Robert Czachorski Jr.

- Master of Science Degree in Biology from Central
Michigan University. Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from GVSU.
Post Graduate work at GVSU.
- Finished his 39th year of teaching,
(2006-2007 school year), and at
Godwin Heights High School for the past 37 years.
- Teaching Responsibilities: Teaches; Human Anatomy
and Physiology, Biology, Environmental Science, Physical and Earth Science.
- High School lunch room duties for many years.
- Former Varsity Swimming Coach.
- Taught Adult Education (Science) for 20 years
- Adjunct Biology Instructor at GVSU for many years.
- Former webmaster for the High School Website.

- Retired September 30, 2007 after 39 years of
teaching.
Licensed with the FCC, (Federal
Communications Commission), as an Amateur Radio Operator, (Ham Radio Operator),
since 1960. His ham radio call sign is K8XL and his class of license is Amateur
Extra. He is a member of the ARRL, (Amateur Radio Relay League), Headquarters
at Newington, CT. He is an ARRL VE (Volunteer Examiner), assisting in the
administration of FCC exams to individuals beginning in amateur radio, or
upgrading their current class of license.
- In a nation wide search, Mr. Czachorski was selected by
the ARRL as runner up in receiving the Herb S. Brier Instructor of the Year
Award in 1983. This award was in recognition of dedicated service in
instructing and recruiting for the Amateur Radio Community. A certificate of
Achievement and write up in QST Magazine, June 1983, followed.
- Many years ago, he began the Godwin Heights Amateur
Radio Association at the high school. The FCC has assigned the amateur radio
call letters of WB8YKJ to the high school with Mr. Czachorski as station
Trustee. Back in the 70’s, he built a Heathkit Hw-101 Transceiver, which
served as the nucleus for radio communications around the world, at the high
school.
- For many years Mr. Czachorski taught Amateur Radio
Classes at the high school to students for science credit and Adult Ed Leisure
Time Classes. During that long tenure, he has taught hundreds of students and
adults, who to this day are still very active Amateur Radio Operators.
